Lake Segara Anak, which means child of the sea, lies in the crater of Mount
Rinjani. The lake is so beautiful with cool average temperature of the
surrounding area. The cool temperature is resulted from its altitude of about
3,775 above sea level. The total area of the lake is about 1,100 acres, while
the average depth is 230 m. Although the surrounding area is quite cool, the
lake itself is heated.
The temperature of the lake is about 20 to 22oC. It is about 5 to 7oC above the expected temperature in such altitude. When you visit the lake, you will see a volcanic cone of Mount Baru at the west end of the lake. With the volcanic cone, the lake shapes like a crescent.

Location
Lake Segara Anak is situated in West Nusa Tenggara,
Indonesia. Precisely, the lake is in Sembalun
Lawang Village, East
Lombok District, Sembalun Regency at the coordinate of 8°25′00″ S and 116°28′00″ E. The lake is large, with the surface area of 11.3 km2,
and it can hold water of about 36 Giga-liters. The surface elevation of the
lake is 2,008 m. Although the lake is quite remote, you will not regret of your

lake. The release of the gold fish is aimed to honor the goddess Enjini, a
queen that used to rule at Mount Rinjani.
