Hoga
Island is one of island in the region of Wakatobi. Wakatobi itself is a famous marine national
park in South East Sulawesi, Indonesia.
The national park becomes the
largest conservation area around the world. The area of this conservation area
is 1,390,000 ha. It consists five zones, i.e. protected zone (160,500 ha), core
zone (683,500 ha), use zone (70,000 ha), rehabilitation zone (175,000 ha) and
traditional use zone (300,500 ha).
These zones spread in many islands surrounding Wakatobi, including Hoga. Hence, when you visit Wakatobi, you’ll have many places to visit. You can travel to all of the islands, or choose one of them. Location
To reach Hoga Island, you can travel
from the capital city of South East Sulawesi, i.e. Kendari. From Kendari, you
will have various alternatives means of transportation. The means of
transportation from Kendari to Hoga is mostly by a timber ship. You can reach
the island from Kendari via Wangi Wangi. The ship departs from Kendari two
times a week.
Otherwise, you can travel via Raha from Kendari to Bau Bau by speedboat. It takes about four hours by boat. You can ask a guide for travel information if you don’t know how to go to the island. Although it is difficult to reach Hoga, you will never regret when you have arrived at the island. The island has an amazing panorama with lots of species, both flora and fauna.

in Hoga Island is scuba diving. Scuba diving is fun and exciting as the
underwater life of Hoga has a stunning view. You can see colorful coral reefs
and a lot of species of fish. Visitors can also hike around the island. They
can visit small fishing village like Furake. The village is awesome as it has
unique culture with amazing traditional way of life. The people seem to live in
harmony, they always welcome visitors coming from many places.

When you visit Hoga Island, you will
have a lot of choice for hotels or resorts. Most visitors choose to stay in
Hoga Island Dive Resort. The resort is comfortable with 8 traditional cottages.
All of the cottages are built on stilts and they face the sea and the beach.
The cottages also have hammock and balcony for relaxation. You can do various
things in the balcony, such as sunbathing,
reading a book or drinking and having a chat with your family.
The resort has beautiful sunset panorama in the evening. However, for travelers who want to save their budget, they can stay in simple lodges provided by local people. The rate for the lodges is not expensive, ranging from Rp50,000 to Rp80,000 (Rp5.50 to $8.50) per night.
