As an archipelago country, Indonesia has many amazing snorkeling and diving spots. Some of them become the best diving spot in the world. Apart from that, Indonesia is also rich of underwater life. Visitor who loves water activity will not miss this one because coral reefs and fishes will accompany you. For diving and snorkeling, you can choose one of them. 1.    Bunaken, North Sulawesi
Bunaken is one of the best diving spot in the world. Bunaken itself is a group of small islands, i.e. Nine, Mantehage, Gangga, Manado Tua, and Sialdoen Island. There are around 16 spots to dive and snorkel around these areas. Besides that, Bunakan has 30 indentations, which are become a home for species of fishes and underwater life. The popularity of Bunaken becomes complete underwater park because it has rich biodiversity. 

 2.    Derawan Island, South Kalimantan
Derawan Island has nominated to be one of world heritage by UNESCO since 2005. The depth of diving is spot is around 5 meters. In this island you can dive and snorkel together with underwater life, such as lobsters, octopuses, seahorses, squids, pipe fishes, ribbon eels, and many more. When you dive for around 10 meters depth, you will find Blue Trigger Wall. In this spot, you can see red-toothed trigger fishes.

3.    Komodo Island, East Nusa Tenggara
Komodo Island also becomes a habitat for komodo. Flores is a gate in East Nusa Tenggara Province to enter to several diving spots in Komodo Island. These are one of the best spot for diving and snorkeling in the world. You can join to Orca Dive Club Forest and go to Bidadari Island. Bidadari Island is a small island with spectacular view because it has white sand and becomes a house reef diving spot. You need to cross the sea to reach the island. If you want to explore different diving and snorkeling spot, you can go to Rinca and Komodo Island from Labuan Bajo Pier. According to testimony from divers around the world, Komodo Island has the best of beautiful underwater life in Indonesia. They call it as ‘Paradise Underwater'.

4.    Lembeh Strait, North Sulawesi
Lembeh Strait is one of favorite diving and snorkeling spot in North Sulawesi after Bunaken. Although it is only a strait, but Lembeh Strait has wonderful underwater life, coral reefs, and variety of fishes. When you dive here, you will find frogfishes, harlequin lobsters, squids, octopus, seahorses, pipe fishes, cardinal fishes, and many more. That is why scientists and underwater lover like to spend their time longer in Lembeh Strait.

5.    Karimunjawa Islands
Karimunjawa Islands consist of 27 small islands. But, only 5 among them are populated. There are 30 diving spots with beautiful coral reefs and marine biota. You can find various species of fishes here. With the depth of 5 – 40 meters underwater, the vision is around 5 – 25 meters. Karimunjawa Islands has complete accommodations, such as home stay and luxurious resort. It is not surprise because Karimunjawa is one of the best of diving and snorkeling spots in Indonesia.

6.    Raja Ampat, West Papua
Raja Ampat is like a hidden gem in West Papua. It is also become the most complete biodiversity in the world. Raja Ampat itself consists of 1,500 islands at Southwest Papua. Most of underwater lover, divers, scuba divers, snorkeler, and backpacker will never miss Raja Ampat when they visit Indonesia. In this region, you can find around 1,500 species of fishes, 700 molluscs, and 500 of corals. Total area of Raja Ampat is around 4.6 million hectares. According to The Nature Conservancy and Conservation International, 75% of underwater species live here. Thus, it is not surprise if Raja Ampat becomes one of popular diving and snorkeling spots in Indonesia.

7.    Wakatobi, Southeast Sulawesi
Wakatobi is one of diving spot in Southeast Sulawesi. Most of divers from around the world come here to enjoy underwater panorama. Wakatobi itself is a marine park. There are around 750 species of corals and 850 species of underwater life. Actually, you can visit four of big islands here, i.e. Binongko, Tomia, Kaledupa, and Wangi Wangi.
