Location
Tablolong
Beach exists at Tablolong Village, West Kupang sub-district, Kupang Regency,
East Nusa Tenggara, Indonesia. It lies around 30 km from the city. You can go
there by a car or motorcycle. The road toward the beach is winding and narrow. After
that, you will pass quiet forest. This scenery will accompany you during your
journey to Tablolong Beach. Sometime, you will see local resident who bring
jerrycan to get water for daily needs. The location of its beach is at the west
tip of Timor Island.
The
easiest and fastest way to go to the beach is through ‘Middle Way’. That is
mean you will pass Bakunase Region and West Kupang by passing Oenesu Region.
After you enter to the area for about 300 meter, you will find open building
with bench and round roof. Some people use the building to rest and relax
before they explore the area.
Activities
When
you come to Tablolong Beach, you have to pay IDR2,000 or US$0.2. Once you come
to the beach, you will adore the beauty of panorama. The length of coastline is
almost 3 km. The beach has white sand, rocks and calm wave. Tablolong often
becomes a fishing spot and oar competition. Participant from all around the
world come here to join and see the competition. When the tide is low, adults
and kids busy to seek snail around the rocks. This is one of activity when the
water is shallow. The tip of Tablolong Beach is private area. The owner will
charge you to pay IDR1,000 or US$0.1 to enter this area.
Anyone
who just already comes to the beach will admire the exotic scenery because you
will see the stretch of white sand with combination of clear and turquoise
water. Only few people come here daily. But, the atmosphere will crowd at
weekend and holiday. Along the beach, there are lodges. Because Tablolong faces
right to Rote Island, you will see small spot from distance. With perfect
condition, the local government should develop the beach to make it becomes
more popular. That is mean local resident will get the benefit from tourist who
come to Tablolong.
When
you come to Tablolong Beach, you will see if in this place there are many facilities,
such as playground and huts. However, the perfect activities you can do in this
beach are swimming, sun-bathing, and diving. If you hungry, you don’t have to
worry about it because there are food stalls selling boiled corn, roasted corn,
roasted fish, and young coconut. When you explore Tablolong Beach, don’t miss
mangrove trees. The trees exist at the middle of rocks.
