Beach is one of beautiful beach in Sumba Island. The beach has white sand and
stretches along 2.5 km. The surfer from around the world comes to this place to

Location
Nihiwatu Beach is located at Waikabubak City, West Sumba
Regency, East Nusa Tenggara, Indonesia. The beach is managed by international
resort, Nihiwatu Resort. Besides that, the beach is around 400 km eastern of
Bali. From Ngurah Rai Airport in Bali, you can take a flight to Tambolaka
Airport by Merpati, Wings Air, Transnusa, or Aviastar.
From Tambolaka Airport, you can hire a car to continue your
journey to Nihiwutu Beach, which is takes around 2 – 3 hours. You need to pay
around IDR300,000 – IDR400,000, or US$31 – US$41. The price is makes sense
because you will continue your trip to one of remote region in East Nusa
Tenggara. Along the road, you can enjoy the panorama of traditional life in
Sumba Island.
Accommodations
Nihiwatu Resort is the only one operator around the beach. They
are completed by villa and three rooms of bungalow, which is situated at the
hill. These bungalows are also has private pool facing to the ocean. The
restaurant itself is constructed by open model. The architecture and ornament in
the resort are combination between modern and traditional style.
The resort offers beautiful beach and culture of Sumba
Island. With clean and complete facilities, tourist will love to spend their
holiday in Nihiwatu Beach. If you plan to stay overnight in the resort, the
rate is quite expensive. You need to pay around 420 – 2,500 Euro per night.
Activities
When you come to Nihiwatu Beach in East Nusa Tenggara, you
can do many water activities. But, the most favorite one is surfing. The beauty
of the beach is kept well and that is why tourist can enjoy their time. With white
sand and powerful wave, you can surf here. Not only surfing, you also can dive
underwater and canoeing with a boat. If you like adventure, visiting fishing
spot can be done. In order to keep the environment and underwater life, the
resort allows only 10 surfers at the beach.
You need to know that the perfect time to visit Nihiwatu
Beach is from April to December. The resort will close to public from January
10th to February 28th. So, if you curious to know the
beauty of the beach, you can reserve a room in Nihiwatu Resort first. After that,
you can challenge the beach by surfing and diving.
